Assessment of Heavy Metal Contamination in Soil Samples Obtained from Fadama Soils within the Vicinity of Dumpsites in Lokoja, Kogi State

he concentration and contamination levels of some heavy metals in Fadama soils utilized for agricultural activities within the vicinity dumpsites Lokoja were assessed presented. The reconnaissance was conducted, soil samples collected from four different locations to test type metal content. Simple random sampling technique adopted plot selections, analyzed with atomic absorption spectrophotometry. value Zn content ranged between 37.10mg/kg at Banda 50.96mg/kg Kabawa, Mn 212.92mg/kg Nataco 452.14mg/kg Kabawa. Iron 1071.80mg/kg 1913.40mg/kg Nataco. Cu Pb level vary little amongst plots, 3.56mg/kg Ganaja 6.84mg/kg 1.80mg/kg 3.38mg/kg did not show significant correlation particle size fractions organic matter soil. respective plots very low compared European Union maximum permissible level; suggesting that this study are threatening now, but there is need continuous monitoring checkmate future trend sustainability.
